How do we get through each day, maintaining our lives and balance?
How do you, our clients, our readers, our support, make it through each day?
One of the ways we can strengthen our own well-being is by keeping a maintained home. For some of us, that will mean we first must do what is commonly referred to as a “deep-clean”. We won’t discuss that at this time, but we will talk about maintenance.
First: when you rise from sleep – whatever time of day – make your bed. It doesn’t have to be perfect, you can pull up your covers and smooth them, fluff your pillows, and call it done.
Second: when you use the bathroom, give everything a quick wipe-down. Wash your hands, wipe out the sink and run your cloth over the counters.
Third: empty the trash cans in the bathroom, kitchen, and main living areas.
Fourth: Put away your laundry. Dirty clothes piled up on the floor? Toss them in the hamper or basket. Clean clothes waiting to find a home? Put them away.
Five: In the kitchen – run a sink full of hot, soapy water. Either put your dishes in as you use/empty them, or wash what you use as you go – making spaghetti and mixing everything together in one pot? wash the sauce pot and the skillet, the spoons and spatulas. After you eat, wash your dishes. It’s easier to clean what you use as you use it than facing a towering pile of dishes. Wipe down the counters and the stove. Sweep under the table and around your cook/prep areas.
Six: Finally, do a quick walk-through of your home and put away anything that is not where it belongs.
