A Mother’s Garden
~Anonymous
A mother’s love is like a garden,
With tenderness anew,
Her hands have sown the seeds of life,
And watched them grow anew.
Each child she nurtures with her love,
Like flowers in her care,
And with each day that passes by,
She helps them bloom so fair.
She waters them with gentle words,
And nourishes with pride,
And when they need her loving care,
She’s always there beside.
A mother’s love is like a garden,
So full of hope and light,
And in her heart she carries on,
Her children’s futures bright.
So let us all remember well,
The gift that mothers give,
For in their gardens, children grow,
And in their love, we live.
The history of Mother’s Day can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans who celebrated a mother goddess. Mothers have been celebrated in many religions, and we continue that tradition even now. A mother’s heartbeat, blood flow, and voice are the first sounds we ever hear, and because of her (and the work of a Higher Power) we have life.
The modern holiday was first established in the United States in the early 20th century by Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honor her own mother’s dedication to social causes.
Whether you are a mother who carried life, gave birth, or a mother who adopted, or an honorary mother, or just a very special person in someone’s life, you have given a gift of self and we see you. May you be honored on Mother’s Day and every day.
When your children forget to say it, we see you. Every hug your children give you, every flower, every smile, every handcrafted card, every gift they make or buy, they see you. Bask in the love that you have shared with them and that they feel for you.
A Mother’s Love

A mother’s love is like no other,
It’s pure and gentle, sweet and kind,
It’s patient, understanding, and forgiving,
A precious gift to all mankind.
A mother’s love can heal all wounds,
It can chase away the darkest night,
It can bring a smile to your face,
And make everything seem bright.
A mother’s love is a guiding light,
That shines down on you from above,
It’s always there to show you the way,
And to fill your heart with love.
So treasure your mother’s love,
And cherish every moment you share,
For it is a bond that will never break,
A love that will always be there.
Mothers face a wide range of challenges every day, from balancing work and family responsibilities to dealing with societal pressures and managing their mental and physical health. It’s important to acknowledge and understand these challenges, as they can be overwhelming and lead to feelings of isolation or inadequacy. It’s okay to ask for help, take a break when needed, and prioritize self-care. Remember that being a mother is a difficult but rewarding job, and you are doing the best you can. Let’s support each other and celebrate all the amazing things that mothers do every day.
We’re not perfect. We make mistakes every day. Sometimes, it feels as though all we do is make mistakes. Those mistakes shape us as people and how we handle those mistakes shapes our children into the adults (and parents) they may one day be themselves. When you make a mistake, do you handle yourself with grace? Do you extend yourself the same patience as that child who looks to you for reassurance? When you snap at your child, losing your temper for a moment, do you apologize? Do you teach them that a sincere apology doesn’t have strings and expectations attached? Do you know that you’re only human, that you are allowed to be emotional, to have good moments and bad?
I’m thinking back on my own childhood, where I learned parenting, and it’s not good. It’s not bad. It’s just the way things were. If you come from a similar background and now struggle to connect with your children, I want you to know that it will be okay. It’s important to acknowledge and process the challenges you faced in your childhood, and to seek out support and resources to help you heal and move forward.
It’s understandable that you may not have had a nurturing mother figure in your life, but it’s important to remember that there are many different types of mothers and mother figures. You may have had a teacher, a coach, a mentor, or another relative who provided guidance and support to you. It’s important to acknowledge and appreciate the positive influences in your life, even if they didn’t fit the traditional role of a mother.
As you navigate your own journey as a parent, it may be helpful to seek out resources and support systems to help you learn and grow as a caregiver. Parenting is a challenging and ongoing process, and there are many resources available to help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to be the best parent you can be. It’s important to remember that it’s okay to make mistakes, and that seeking help and support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
If you ever need someone to talk to, there are many resources available to you. You can reach out to a therapist, a support group, or a hotline for help and guidance. Remember that you are not alone and that there are people who care about you and want to help you on your journey.
A Mother’s Love
~ Helen Steiner Rice
A mother’s love is something
That no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
And of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
And enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
Or take that love away.
It is patient and forgiving
When all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
Even though the heart is breaking.
It believes beyond believing
When the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
Of the rarest, brightest gems.
It is far beyond defining,
It defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
Like the mysteries of creation.
A many-splendored miracle
Man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
Of God’s tender guiding hand.
And for those of us who are celebrating a mother figure in their lives, or wish to honor someone in memory of a deceased loved one, take action and support mothers in your communities. Volunteering at local organizations that support mothers and families can be a great way to give back and make a difference. Donating to these organizations can also make a significant impact. Even small gestures, such as offering to babysit for a mother who needs a break, can make a big difference. It’s also important to remember that support and encouragement can go a long way for a mother. A simple message or phone call to check in and offer kind words can brighten someone’s day and show that they are not alone. Let’s all come together to support and uplift mothers, not just on Mother’s Day, but every day.
